Petrobras
Petrobras is Brazil’s state-controlled oil company: it pumps about 3 million barrels of oil and gas a day, mostly from the deep-water pre-salt fields off Rio and São Paulo, refines most of Brazil’s fuel in its 10 refineries and exports surplus crude, chiefly to Asia.
Most of its oil lies under a salt layer.
Deep-water pre-salt fields give Petrobras very low-cost barrels that now make up most of its output.
